Devastating News on Cargo Plane Incident: Death Toll Climbs to 13

The tally of lives lost due to the UPS cargo plane which caught fire and plummeted has climbed to 13, per recent announcements.

City Leader's Statement

Traveling to the Workers’ vigil, I received word of a thirteenth victim that died as a outcome of the plane accident,” expressed the municipal leader in a public communication. “My heart are with the loved ones, friends and co-workers of all who were lost in this week’s tragedy. We will endure this collectively.”

Deceased Confirmed

A statement from UPS identified the officers aboard the jet as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts reach out to each UPSer who has been touched and everyone in our community community – assisting you and making sure you receive the attention and aid you need is our priority,” the company’s message read.

Inquiry Details

Government officials disclosed that the freight aircraft’s wing ignited and an engine separated just after takeoff from the aviation hub, resulting in the plane to fall and explode into a fireball.

The National Transportation Safety Board announced it is probing the aircraft’s service record, which was in Texas for repairs a period prior to the crash.

Aircraft records showed the jet was on the ground in San Antonio, Texas from early September to 18 October.

“We are knowledgeable that this plane was located in that city,” stated an investigator on the following day, not giving a specific time frame. “We will look at every piece of repairs that was completed, including the repair time, right up to the time of the journey.”

Findings of Vital Components

The audio device and information unit were recovered, and the motor was found on the tarmac.

The devices – known as flight recorders – were designed to survive accident forces and severe fire from fires, and they seemed to be in one piece when found among the remains. Officials plan on analyzing recordings from the recorders.

Aircraft’s concluding data recordings indicated an elevation of 475 ft and a velocity of 210 mph before the impact.

Maintenance Record

Per FAA documents from that date, a crack on a component inside the tank area needed repairs.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which stated it offers aircraft servicing for the carrier’s jet and manages a repair facility in that city, declined to comment, but said it would cooperate fully when officials approached it.

Operations Continue

In the meantime, UPS Worldport activities restarted that evening with its express or nighttime operation, spokesperson the company official said. Each of the three landing strips at the aviation hub were also back in operation.

The UPS package handling facility in this location is the firm’s most significant. The hub hires over 20,000 individuals in the locality, handles numerous trips per day and sorts over four hundred thousand packages an hour.

Community Support

A gathering was conducted on the evening of that date by the regional labor union, which represents staff at the airfield, the firm’s primary air cargo hub.

Worker representatives, which supports UPS workers, started the memorial with a quiet tribute at that time, the rough hour of the incident previously.

“This incident was so sudden, so unforeseen,” the leader told the assembly of 200. “No one had a chance to part to each of those who we have lost.”
