Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then found numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A senior official commented the vandalism made him stunned and had to be solved quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
